The Gerontological Society of America leads the Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) National Coordinating Center as part of a five-year cooperative agreement with the National Institute on Aging. The RCMAR program supports behavioral and social research on aging, health disparities in older adults, and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) through the development of research infrastructure and the mentorship of early career scientists from diverse backgrounds, including, but not limited to, individuals from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research, individuals with disabilities, and women.
This briefing will include presentations on some of the latest research coming out of the RCMAR program. RCMAR scientist Dr. Shana Stites will share her research on advancing the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and RCMAR Center Director Dr. Leah Karliner will share the latest research out of the Center for Aging in Diverse Communities. Lunch will be served.
This briefing is being organized and conducted by the National Coordinating Center of the Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research; lunch is provided by the Gerontological Society of America.
