The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) invites all journalists to attend its 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting Online — the country’s largest interdisciplinary conference in the field of aging — from November 10 to 13. Media representatives intending to cover the meeting may register free of charge.

Several thousand professionals from around the world are expected to attend the four-day event. The theme for 2021 is “Disruption to Transformation: Aging in the ‘New Normal’” and the program schedule contains hundreds of scientific sessions featuring research presented for the first time. Noteworthy meeting highlights include:

  • A wealth of story ideas: GSA offers direct access to leading authorities and new discoveries in gerontology. Explore the latest developments related to COVID-19, vaccines, telehealth, innovative technologies, Social Security and retirement, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, family caregiving, long-term care, human longevity, and much more. (A searchable program of all meeting sessions will be made available to registrants on November 1.)
  • Keynote address: Critical and palliative care specialist Jessica Nutik Zitter, MD, MPH, will be the featured keynote speaker during the President’s Opening Plenary Session on Thursday, November 11, which will include a screening of her new short documentary, “Caregiver: A Love Story.” It is a moving piece that highlights the invisible role that family caregivers play at end of life. Zitter’s subsequent talk will deliver a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by family caregivers as they navigate medical, financial, and personal obstacles in their roles as caregivers.
  • Interactivity with researchers: All symposia and paper sessions will be conducted via live video sessions, where interested meeting attendees can connect in real time with session presenters.
  • Extended access to programming: All symposia, paper, and poster sessions will also be made available in an on-demand format. This content will remain available until the end of 2021.

The complimentary media registration allows access to all scientific sessions. We look forward to seeing you online!
