Spotlight Shines on GSA Members in New PBS Program

A new aging-related documentary titled “Fast Forward” has just made its debut on PBS, and a number of GSA members are featured as they provide expert commentary! It’s now streaming on the PBS video app; check your local PBS resources to find out when you can find it airing or on demand.

The program, narrated by Rosario Dawson, follows four millennials and their baby boomer parents through an “aging boot camp.” The goal is to encourage viewers to have critical conversations with their families about how they can maximize their choices and well-being throughout life. It includes experiences such as use of the MIT AgeLab's AGNES (Age Gain Now Empathy System) Suit, as well as insight from gerontologists in the areas of geriatrics, family caregiving, serious illness, and more.

Among the GSA members who contributed are Gregory Hinrichsen, Christine Ritchie, Rita Choula, Joseph Coughlin, and Adriana Perez. I offer my congratulations to them on sharing meaningful and actionable information on aging with such a wide audience.

“Fast Forward” received major funding support from The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. I thank them for making this possible. Next Avenue was a partner on the documentary as well — and they’ve produced courses and a digital toolkit of resources, including step-by-step instructions and a master checklist, designed to help viewers prepare their own aging plans.
