GSA’s Policy Internship Will Go Virtual in 2021; Apply Now!
By CEO James Appleby, BSPharm, MPH
GSA is offering emerging scholars the opportunity to be immersed in aging-related policy development and participate in this process at the national level! We’re now accepting applications for the 2021 cycle of the Greg O’Neill Student Policy Internship, which will be conducted remotely in the summer months. I invite you to apply or help spread the word! The application deadline is January 29.
This six-week internship is named after our late colleague Dr. Greg O’Neill, who was a member of the GSA staff for 20 years and led our nonpartisan public policy institute, the National Academy for an Aging Society. Consistent with guidance from government and health authorities, we’ll enable our interns to participate in the program remotely — mainly during normal Eastern time business hours.
Internship duties and opportunities may include participation in briefings, hearings, and meetings; researching and analyzing issues that impact older individuals; meeting with federal regulatory agencies and national coalitions; monitoring legislation and regulations; contributing to GSA’s Public Policy & Aging Report; developing policy sessions for the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting; drafting communications; and attending other events with GSA staff.
Check out GSA’s website for more details, including the list of qualifications for this internship. Thanks for your interest in advancing the next generation of aging policy experts!
