Join GSA in DC for Capitol Hill Day: You Will Make a Difference

The research and academic communities are facing unprecedented challenges, including dramatic reductions in federal grant funding and major cuts at NIH, NSF, ACL, AHRQ, CDC, and other agencies supporting all of us as we age. The pace of announced cuts can feel overwhelming, and the path forward may not be clear. There is, however, one major action that you can take, and you can do it hand-in-hand with GSA.
On April 29 and 30, I invite you to join us for our first-ever Capitol Hill Day exclusively for GSA members, where we will give you a crash course in everything you need to meet with congressional offices and advocate for aging research.
We’re doing this because Congress works best when their decisions are informed by experts — that’s you! Right now, this is the best way for you, as constituents, to have an influence on what’s happening in the federal government. No prior experience is necessary, and GSA will be with you every step of the way.
GSA will arrange the meetings for you. We will train you how to have successful conversations with congressional staffers. We will provide you with talking points and issue briefs so you can speak with confidence. We even have an app to help you get around and keep on track with your agenda items. And you’ll be paired with other GSA members and staff.
The GSA Board of Directors made similar visits to Capitol Hill at their most recent in-person meeting. You can learn about their experiences in a newly recorded webinar.
Sign up for Capitol Hill Day now because we have a limited number of spaces available. And we’ve arranged for a hotel room block but the cutoff deadline for discounted room rates is Tuesday, April 8, at 11:59 p.m.
This is a time to mobilize and with GSA’s help, sharing your expertise on the value of aging research will never be easier. I look forward to welcoming you.
