Expert Referral Service

The Information Service of The Gerontological Society of America is built around an expert referral program where we can identify experts in almost any area in the field of aging (except referrals to physicians for patients*).

To assist in the referral process, GSA has established key words in the field of aging. Use them to request names of experts.

You can request expert referrals via e-mail: tkluss@geron.org or telephone: 202-842-1275, ext. 142

GSA members can sign up for the expert referral service online by updating their member profile here.

*Please note that GSA does not provide referrals to physicians for patients. Here are resources for older Americans seeking medical and community support:

The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Foundation for Health in Aging can provide a list of physicians by zip code who are AGS members and board-certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine; for more information and access to the physician refferal service, go to http://www.healthinaging.org/public_education/what_is_geriatrics.php.
The American Medical Association also offers a physician referral service, at http://www.ama-assn.org/aps/amahg.htm; search under the medical specialty "Geriatrics" for geriatricians and gerontologists.
The American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) provides referrals to geriatric psychiatrists; call 301-654-7850, ext. 100, or visit their website at http://www.aagponline.org.
The ElderCare Locator, toll-free number 1-800-677-1116, is a nationwide, directory assistance service designed to help older persons and caregivers locate local support resources for aging Americans.
